Well there are a couple of reasons.

Firstly and most significantly it is to help cover the Web host and software licensing costs which mount up and cannot be covered by ads alone. I don't mind having to pay to play Web master, but if I can pare down the total costs with support that's great!

Moreover, there is one project that grabbed my attention and that I want to try out at the end of the year. There is a person in my Social Network community who is going to produce a digital music shop towards the end of this year, which will run a bit like iTunes, or more like CDBaby. When I first heard it I thought, "Hell yeah. I want a piece of that!"

So the ChipIn is there, in part, to subsidize an experiment into online commerce for indy music. I am not sure how it will go, but it seems like a fun little project to put together.

This isn't a pressure call to get you to plunk down your dollars (although you are most welcome to), but just a bit of information as to why I'm pan-handling for cash.

If you're interested in selling your music online, buzz me and I'll update you when the Web shop gets online (expected at the end of 2010).
