I'm really through with my Rush tribute band which was or is (depending if they keep it going and I hope they will) called Fly by Night. I joind in 2001 and had some fun but the fun is over! The guitar player had serious delusions of grandeur! He would call me at 10:30 at night to complain about what I wore on stage saying I looked "too refined". Is that constructive? The bass player (who's a great guy) told me to "dress rock". The problem with that is that his idea of "rock" stops in about 1992. I don't like ripped jeans and sneakers! I did back in '93 when I listened to a lot of Nirvana. Maybe I'm too Lolita to live! The last straw came when the guitar player changed to date of a gig from a Friday to a Saturday and didn't tell me! Meanwhile I was supposed to drive with my family down to the States that Saturday morning. So they went without me. I was pretty pissed off! Later in the evening, about 10 minutes before we go onstage the guitar player rips into me about how I move too much like a girl onstage! Like how I move my feet separetes us from world domination and remaining in the Toronto circuit! That was it for me. We had one more gig booked last Friday and that was my last! I feel I have to mention here that when I have been out socially with the guitar player he had gotten very touchy with me-as in having his hands on my butt! One time at practice he laid into me for going out too much and having too many guy friends! Like it's any of his business! My husband doesn't mind the few guy friends that I have-but that's not the point! The point is that my guitar player has no business dictating my life! Funny, his relationships never seem to work out where I have been with the same person (in EVERY way) for 14 years. I think he thinks that when a woman goes out to a bar the only reason is to get laid. I've seen his female friends at shows and frankly, they're pretty skanky. I won't miss them. He doesn't seem to realize that when you are in a scene-and this has been my experience in both the Mod and the Goth scene-you go out to hang out and chat and drink with your friends and your libido is not necessarily the top thing on your mind! In these scenes it seems that couples form out of having some common intrest that isn't necessarily sex! Anyway, I'm done with it (the tribute band). "So just find a new guitar player" you might say. But truth be told after nearly seven years I'd like a Rush break! A looooong one!
