Title: Telemarketers - solicitors

Blog Entry: Is there is no escape from the clutches of telemarketers/solicitors? I understand that people must make a living but when you try to politely tell someone you are not interested - for the fourth time, and they still hound you what do you do next? This happened to me today. A solicitor came to the door and was trying to sell an electricity contract. She said her speech and I told her politely that I was not interested. "Sir," she said, "I am here to inform you about our electricity contract." I told her once again I was not interested - the attitude that this person had was truly offensive. She would not take "no" for an answer. Finally I told her we must have a communication problem here..."what do you mean," she said. Well, I have told you 4 times now that I am not interested and you are still here. "Fine," she snapped at me, turned her nose up and walked away...Geeezzz! They track you down on the phone, most often when you sit down to eat - we once had one telemarketer call at midnight to do a phone survey! I had a solicitor try to push his way into our home - until he saw our Labrador Retriever Apollo, and then he decided to leave. We have sales flyers left on our lawn - normally during a rain storm. Spring is another treat - you get to pick up all the sales flyers that have accumulated under the snow for the last 4 months. Now, they fax the sales flyers to you and waste your paper...or my personal favorite...they bug you at home with a recording of a telemarketer! Is there no escape!! But wait - there is more - go to the local shopping mall and you get to take all the sales flyers that they have placed on your car! We were treated one day to a solicitor from a near-by church. I was repairing our backyard fence as some fine individual decided to park his car in our backyard one evening (we use to live on a corner lot). So, here I am, rebuilding my fence and he comes up to me and said "Jesus loves you," he smiled and looked upwards toward the sky. What do you say to that? I said "I hope he does." Then the solicitor steps into my comfort zone, that I did not like and asked me if I spoke to Jesus...I told him that I spoke to jesus last evening. "You did," was his excited reply "what did you say to him son?" I cleared my throat and said "JC...who drove through my fence!!" His 2 friends had a good laugh, he didn't and walked away - oh well, I hope he still loves me.  Hmmmm....somehow I feel better now TC. Laundrew...
